There’s one thing we’ve known since we went into pre-production on Ice Blue; we want to screen in Calgary for all our cast, crew, family and friends. We’re so thankful to get that opportunity from #CalgaryFilm.
When choosing a direction for Ice Blue’s poster, director Sandi Somers and marketing art director Derek Heisler kept coming back to the imagery and the many themes in the movie. Both keyed on the Entz family’s pond and the blue poppy for their significance and their relation to the story.
After 70-plus short film projects, Calgary filmmaker Sandi Somers has finally gotten her shot, and she does not disappoint. Sandi spent some time with the Calgary Herald’s Eric Volmers to talk about Ice Blue, family secrets, and… beavers.
There is so much involved in making a film, no matter the size. It’s all-encompassing for anyone that’s a part of it for as long as they are. For Ice Blue’s producer, Scott Lepp, it’s a bittersweet feeling.
